PRA, (Progressive Retinal Atrophy) is an inherited eye disease. It will always result in blindness. An affected dog has to inherit the PRA gene from both parents.
PRA has been confirmed in two Shih Tzus in Iceland of UK breeding.

If you have, or know of, a PRA affected Shih Tzu please donate a blood sample to Optigen. It´s not easy to find the DNA test for this, and breed such as Papillon, Chihuahua and Tibet Spaniel are still looking for the PRA gene even tought it have been a know problems in there breeds for quite long time.

The first Shih Tzu club open show was held 3.6.2010. Judge was Annukka Paloheimo from Finland. 35 Shih Tzus where registered to this biggest Shih Tzu show entry in Iceland. The show was very successful, and the atmosphere was great. There was a special class for cut downs called 'Freestyle class'

ISCH Molly & Danilos Passion O´the Game

In our club magazin the judges talk about the show and the dogs the judge. Guy Jeavons did talk a little about the shih tzus. He told that he was very happy with the dogs hw choose in BOB and BOS. He says that the Shih Tzus in whole where differnd in quality and various in breed type.

Icelandic kennel club show took place 28.06.09 16 adult shih tzus where registered. Judge Guy Jeavons from Canada.

In the Icelandic Kennel Club magazine. There was a interview with the judges after the last show. Here is what Annaliiisa Heikkinen from Finland told about the Shih Tzus:

"Annaliisa´s feelings for the Shih Tzu´s where mixed. She told although that she did like very much a black and white male puppy that have everything that a good Shih Tzu could have. Beautiful head, low to the ground, excellent movements and outstanding coat. (Ta Maria Beat The Fantasy)

The dog that was Best of breed was also of a very similar breed type like the best puppy, and she was very happy to hear that both of these dog parents are from Finland. (CH Shabanoun Mulberry Max)

She did also see a Shih Tzu of a type that she called an American breed type, higer on legs, but often these dogs needs more body and filling. These dogs can be flashy,
but that is not the way Shih Tzu should be. Shih Tzu is a little, low to the ground, and strong dog."

Shih Tzu club christmas party was taken place 7.12.08 in Reykjavik. 26 Shih Tzus and owner where togeather.

A Shih Tzu bitch from Iceland Perluskins Because I´m A Princess after ISCH Tibet Pride´s Drop Dead Beautiful and ISCH Shabanoun Mulberry Max, compited at a specialshow in Sweden and was a Juniorclass winner with CK. Only 10 months old.
